CORRESPONDENCE. MR JO HNS' CAMBRIDGE MEETING.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin, — I was rather -orry to see a letter in your issue of to-day, from Mr Johns' impugning 1 the correctness of your correspondent's report of that gentleman's addresat Cambridge West, because I aa well as several others of whom I have since asked the question — and who were present at the meeting — are fully of opinion that Mi Johns did make use of the words he now tdkos exception to, and we expressed our surprise at his being so indiscreet especially after ha ring read telegrams from Sir Geo. Grey in which Sir George expressed his mtontion to come and stump fehe district on his Mr John's behalf. I can only account for it by the fact that the unusual excitement in which Mr John's, during the last few weeks, has been living is too much for his mental equilibrium. —l am &c, The Chairman oi 1 Mr Johns' Meeting Cambridge West. Cambridge, December 3rd.

Railwat time tables in the South Island do not appear always- to give unmixed satisfaction.
