AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
Mr Alfred IJuikland's Weekly Report.— At the H.i) m.irket on Sept. 23 fodder was in full supply, but lower in value than List week • O.iten hay brought from 2s 6d 3b gd ; meadow, 2s to 4s ; small loads- 12s to 295 ; and straw, 6s to 15s per load. The horse market was fairly filled, consisting principally of inferior animals. Active medium draught brought Ll5 10s to L 27 10s, harness horses, Ll2 10s to Ll4 15s ; hacks, L 5 ios to Ll3 10s. f lie imported stallion, youngMelbourne, w.is offered, but not reaching the reserve, w!is passed in. At the hide and skin sale, held on iucsday lart, exception was taken b) the bujers to the fate pieces and tails being left on the hides, and several lots remained unsold, the buyers refusing to bid for them. Prices for those sold were without alteration from ljtc markets Calfskins brought from jjd to 3,' d , hides, 3 jd to )[d the Ib . for skins, bidding was busk, those in full wool brought tiom 5s to 6s 6d each, infeuor, from 3s id, toast wool, 6|d ; long'vool, 7^d the lb. 'Tallow, 23s 6d and 24s the twt. At the Papakura rattle sale, on Wednesday, 28th instant, there w.is a large muster of stock, all the pens being tilled, and the cattle met a stead) sale throughout at an improvement on the prices latily ruling At Remuera, on lhursday, dairy 1 own at c. living were numerous, and better worth than last week. Store cattle in full numbers, and at lower values than .it an) tune this sea-.on Fat cattle were of good quality, and light weights of better value, le.ihsing 28s the ioolbs . but heavy tattle were at last week's values — jbout 255. 'Ihe competition for fat beasts was good, although theie was considerable fluctuation in price-*,— top sorts selling relatively higher than tho->e not just sufficiently up. Pru cs ringed ficm 2^sto 28s per ioolbs. Sheep • There was a modi-rate supph and good demand. Best whethers sold at iiom 17s od to 23s 6d ; ewes, from 12s 6d to 16s lambs, from 9s to 15s.
