Dan OBrien, the well-known jockey, fell off the express train last night, about a mile this side of Winchester station. He was severely injured, the wheel cutting all the toes off the right foot. An influential deputation waited upon the Premier to-day, and urged upon Lino the advisability of the Government obtaining poworp from Parliament to deal generally with any company that may bo formed here or elsewhere for the purpose of constructing" trunk lines of railway, and encouraging them by concessions of land. There suggestions were received favourably by the Premier.
