AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
Mr Alfred BucKl.md's AVcekly report.— On Fuday last, fodder \ws> fairly competed for, and without alteration in valUe from previous week's E rices. Hoisc stock, was offered in full numers, and, being principally of a classs required — active medium and light draught— met with a good sale, at prices ranging from £n to £22 each. A light harness buggy sold for — lhe sale of second-class timber at the Ouhuhu wharf, on Saturday, was fully attended, and the pi ices obtained ranged from 2s 6d to 7s the 100 ft. —\t the sale of hides and skins, on Tuesday t hides were in slightly bettcrjinquiry; prices ranged fiom 3{ to 4 3-iOd the lb. ; sheepskins, is 2a to 2s 6d each. Wool was rathnr lower in price. Scoured fleece brought from 9JJd to iz|; fleece wool, in greece, 6d to 6|d the lb. At Kemuera, on 1 hursdn} , d.ury cattle were at previous values, and no store cattle yarded. Fat cattle in average supply; 142 yarded, all of choice qnality. Prfocs were slightly better than last week, and ranged from 20s to 25s the toolbs., 22s being the price obtained for the gi eater number. Sheep were in full numbers, about 1000 )ardcd. Prices ueie steady thiousjh the sale at near 2] the lb. The lambs } aided were many of them well grown, but wanting in quality, llcst pens brought from 10s to 12s each; cioss-bred wethers brought fiom 8s Gd to ns6d; long\v6olled wethers, 14s 6d to 15s 6d each.
Messis Hunter and Nolans weekly report. — Hordes: There has s( arccly been so much doing' as on the pi ewous week, but an average number have changed hands. Ihe entries for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards were not so numerous as on the previous week, nor were there any high-priced annuals submitted, but there was steady competition, and almost without exception lots were cleared. We quote hacks, £$ to £13 5s . light harness, £12 10 to £\6 15s ; medium draught, £22 to £z8 10s ; heavy dianght, £36. — Cattle: 'lhc supply has been large, but the demand was Jslack, and prices of all descriptions ruled in fa\or of the purchasser. At Newmarket on Tuesday, there was an average supply of dairy and store stock, and a laigc ope of fat beasts, while at Papakura, on "VYedncsday, there was a large number of cows and store stock yarded, and pi ices for this description ruled a shade higher than at Newmarket. Fat beasts were f\ceptionabl> low, scarcely averaging zos per ioolbs., prices ranged from 17s to 225, and top soits selling relatively better than inferior stores, which, although lower in value, leave but a small margin for gia/ier. There remains an unsatisfied' demand for well-bred joung springers, cows and heifers.— bheep : There was. a lfii ge number yarded .it Newmarket oi Tuesday. The competition was steady throughont, and prices had a slightly upward tendency as compared with last week. Lambs were rather scarce, and consequently higher than the preuous week.— l^igs were in increased supply, and good porkers sold at satisfactory prices.
