SPLIT IN THE CABINET. Resignation of the Native Minister. Mr. Rolleston temporarily holds the Native Portfolio.
[Tho following was published as an Extra, and issued fiom this office last Tuesday morning.] The Hon. Mr. Bryce, Native Minister, has resigned, because the Cabinet, have ref used to adopt his recommendation that a march be made on the Parihaka settlement. The resignation has been accepted, but no steps taken to fill the vacancy. The Hon. Mr Rolle3ton will probably hold Native portfolio temporarily.
"W. J. Hunter and Co. announce an important sale of a l.irgc herd of cattle, wellbred, and in fresh condition, on Thursday, 20th instant, at Ohaupo ; also, immediately after the cattle sale, a. large flock of sheep, all the property of W. Tenders for ploughing and three times harrowing about 200 acres on the Ngamako Estate arc invited. Tenders are invited for gravelling portions of main road in the Taotaoroa District. A meeting of Lodge Beta, Waikato, 450, 1.C., takes place this evening. Mr J. S. Buckland's next Ohaupo sale takes place on Tuesday, 25th instant, at 1 o'clock. The new pure cash system now being initiated by G. and C. will certainly prove a benefit to the public. It has been a great success 'in Sydney and Melbourne, I and when strictly carried out the customer who buys at an establishment where the goods are marked low to ensure a rapid sale must 6c a great gainer. G. and C. sell their drapery millinary, and clothing at such prices for cash as gives the buyer the advantages of a shareholder >n a co-operative society, without the risk of being called upon to bearaportion of the loss should the year's business flroVe unsatisfactory. Garlick and Cranwell yrill aim to retain the confidence which republic have hitherto shown them, and are determined to give the pure cash system a fajr trial ; whether they gain or lose the first year. Country buyers on remitting cash with order will be, supplied with goods at co-operative prices ; just the same as though they made a personal selection. Furnishing goods, such as *carpets, floor cloths, bedsteads, bedding, and 'general house furniture, the largest portion of which is turned out at o,ur own factory, will be marked at the lowest 'reiriunerative prices, and-a discount ot five jjer cent, will be allowed to those who" pay af the time of purchase* G: &C. having realised the entire value of their stock during their late c'afeli sale,~ihe present stock is new and chkap£y s bought.
