Major Atkinson left by the Hawea for South to-day on a mine iteridl tour. He will be absent about a fortnignt. So far as the revenue returns ai'e made up it is expected that all classes railways and telegraphs will be fully up to the estimatee. Customs and lands are in excess, but railways and telegraphs are deficient. Meldouene, Januaiy 12. All hopes of saving the ship Hereford have been abandoned. There is oow 13 fecfc of water in her hold. The Australiau cricketers were passengeis for New Zealand by the Bingarooma, which sailed yesterday.
