RIFLE MATCH. Cavalry v. Infantry.

A friendly mutch was fiied at the Rifle R-im>e on Saturday, between six members of the Himilton (Jav.ilry and an equal number of the Hamilton Light Infantry Corps. The condition 1 * were :— Cavahy t» use em-bines and Infantry Enfield rifles ; ianar(», 200.yai&«, 3 >0 yards uud 4,)0 yards ; five .shots at each, any position. The day was> a mos, unfavorable on", the afternoon bein# very wet and gusty ; so much so that the time for commencing was altered at the last moment from half-pabt 12 till half -past 1. Even after this a coition in the bhooting took place during- the pi ogress of a very hsavy Rquall. A strong wind blew aero a the range and rendered 1 a very difficult matter. Notwithstanding- all the^e di.iwb.juks the score-, mide were very fair, albeit cjnsidenbly below the average. Tho principal scores on the side of the Cavalry wpi- Tiooper B. Yonny- with 45, Trooper Ridler with 4i, and Lieutenant Johnson with 43. The rest were all below 10. On the other side of their opponent* the only one to go over 40 was Private McDonald with 54, Private Trktram bniny- n>;xt iv order with 39. The imteh was decided in f ivor of the Cavalry by 5 points. The following are the soores :—: —
