CORRESPONDENCE. [We do not necessarily endorse the opinions expressed by our correspondents.]

To the Editor of the Waikato Times. Sib, — I have boon making enquiries for the last week to find out who Frontier Settler is, who wrote to the Southern Cross of the 28th ultimo., and is bo well informed as to give the public the " real cause" of Sullivan's murder ; and after enquiring from Mr Walker and most of the settlers about here, I can find no one within seven or eight miles (rather long rifle range) of the scene of the murder, but one imbecile Hauhau named " Hiria"— a likely production of his, as he lives alone, and not liLdy to hear much of what is going on ; but as it is just possible the writer may be some other longsighted Hauhau, evidently an intimate of Purukutu, and as he seems anxious to afford the public information, I beg of him to answer the following questions :—'ls: — 'Is there any line of confiscation marked, dividing the freehold from leasehold properties of Messrs Douglas and Wttlker ? On which side of the confiscated line was Sullivan attacked ? On which side of the line was Mr Parker's life attempted ? How was it that ycur friend, Mr Purukutu.did not come with the intention of murdering Sullivan, but of meeting Mr Buckland on hit way returning from Napier, whom be only missed by two hours? And lastly, how is it that it has been an uncontradicted assertion, that the murder of Sullivan was a direct order from your King, and a challenge to the Europeans ? In conclusion, I beg the liberty to advise you to do the ' Hatter' no longer, but return to your tribe at once, as one so well up and able to give " real causes " can be nothing but an acquisition to his people. — I am, Sir, yours &c, A Cambridge Man.
