Tliom- left to pn.trd me were Pouturtiru, Ifone, .uid Parata Purukutu and the others leit, and returned on t ln* Tinned. i\ , wlien I was liberated. They bronglit «>onietliin<; in .1 ban, w'tieh I now understand was tho head of the pikeh.L killed J'liriikntu »aid they had killed a pakeha ; that the olherd got awny ; that after killing him Whinu followed up the othcrd and lay in ambush for the two men on tho dray (i.e., Mr Parker and man). Purukutu desired him to leave off the pursuit, and thufc was the reason tho gun misled fire wlien Mr Parker escaped. The Atua was angry because his prophet was disobeyed.
