COMFORTS COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Riverton Comforts Committee Avas held on luesday evening in the Council Chambers. Airs J. W. Alartin presided and Alesdam.es A. Castle, D. AI. Tweedic, S. Helm, J. Harvey. A. ProAum, L. Cloughley, Miss A. E. AlcNaughton, and the secretary, Aliss V. Cass els ivero present. A discussion avus held on tlie provision or the next supply of comforts and parcels for local men who axe overseas. Tire secretary remarked that 222 pairs of socks besides other articles have been sent to local men by the Committee.

A further meeting of the Riverton Comforts Committee avus held yesterday, Afesdhmes Haiwey, Helm, Provan, Cloughley, Tweedie, Odell,. Martin and Misses AlcNaughton arid Cassels Avere present. It avos decided to send parcels to all Riverton boys in the near future.

WOMEN ’ S P ATRI OTIC COMMITTEE. The Woman’s Patriotic Committee under the chairmanship of Mrs J. W. Martin also met, and Mesdaines D. M. Tweedie, S. Helm, J. Harvey, A. Brovan, L. Cloughley, Misses A. E. McNaughton and V. Cassels, and the secretary, Airs A. Castle, were present. Consideration Avas given to tins reports of and the amount of funds available for supplying the next quota of parcels for the National Patriotic Fund. Over £l6 had been received from Air W. R. Cockburn’s concert, and a letter of thanks is to be forwarded. The Committee agreed to supply the supper for - the Invercargill Alale Choir who are singing in Riverton next Tuesday.
