MOTHERS' UNION
Members of the League of Mothers' Union and St. Mary's Guild met at Mrs Cottam's residence on Thursday afternoon of last week. Those present were: Mesdames Irwin, Cottam, Trotter, Keir, Inder, Haslemore, Hofland, Spencer, Trail, Ende, Thomson, Walden; Misses Borland, Bole and Petchell. Before the business meeting Miss Borland gave a travel talk of her experiences on a trip to England and Scotland. On behalf of those present Mrs Irwin thanked Miss Borland for the most interesting talk that she had given of her travels. Iu view of the impending departure of Mrs F. L. Irwin from Riverton Mrs Walden took the opportunity of presenting her with a crystal vase and sweet,dish, with best wishes from the Mothers' Union and Guild members. Mrs Irwin thanked the members. Mesdames Cottam and Haslemore provided a delicious afternoon tea.
On behalf of the Girl Guides' Association Mrs Walden also presented Mrs Irwin with a gift from its members, and in doing so said how much they appreciated Mrs Irwin's help as acting Brown Owl, and hoped Mrs Irwin would still continue to bo interested in the Guide Movement.
