ROWING

OPENING OF BIVEBTPN CLUB.

■ln glorious weather the Biverton Rowing Club initiated their season's activities with the official opening on Wednesday afternoon. Owing to the shed having recently been shifted from its former site to the new location, boats were not ready for active use. The president of the Club, the Mayor (Dr ■N. G. Trotter) made reference | that in. 1901 the original permission | was given to erect the sheds on the former site, and he complimented the contractors (Messrs Lindsay Bros.) on the admirable job they had made of the shifting. 1901 was also the year they affiliated with the Southland Rowing Association, and they had continued membership ever since. He wished them a prosperous and successful season. Those present then made an inspection of the shed and got busy with preliminary arrangements, shifting the skiffs and other necessary -requirements to enable the first boat to enter the water this evening ready for the week-end.
