COMMUNITY SING.

, Fleck’s Hall was crowded for the last community sing in aid of the Distinct Dental Clinic to be established in Rivercon. The leader was Mr R. H. Osborne | and at the piano was the Rev. Blight. Great interest was taken in the challenge solo and the Deputy-Mayor, M r A. , F: Webb, rose to the occasion and sang two songs, thus benefiting the funds by an extra £1 14s sd. His effort was greatly appreciated. Mrs L. Clode and Mr M. Olds, of Invercargill, sang solos, while Mr W. Mcßae, of Granity, gave steel guitar items. During the evening the children's singing competition was held, Barbara Angus coming first in the girl’s section, with Jessie Shaw second, ’and W. Henderson won the hoys’ section. The prizes competition were donated by the Invercargill Branch of Toe H. lan Todd, the winner of the mouthorgan competition at'the last sing, gave two items and was presented with the cup which he had wonThe chairman of the Dental Committee, Mr J. A. B. Walker, thanked the performers and the members of the Toe H for their assistance throughout the sings The public deserved praise for the way they had attended and they would be pleased to know that the nett result of . the four sings was over £l4. A large measure of thanks was due to the Inver-. [ cargill and Riverton branches of the To' H who had sponsored the sings and thanks weio due to Leader Osborne and the pianist, Rev Blight: The campaigr fo ’ funds was nearing completion and , with the efforts in view, the Bring and Buy Sale’and the Children’s Fancy Dress | Party, the object aimed at should Be l realised.
