EMPIRE SERVICE LEAGUE.
Mrs E. A. Hofcchkin, General Secretary of the Empire Service League, mid a visit'to Riverton on Thursday and distributed literature and pasters Pertaining to tho League. The object of this League is t 0 support and extend the practice of those principles which, while they form the basis of civilised Society and good Government, and are accepted generally v. by all civilised communities and religious, stilj are not as earnestly followed in ■our. daily life as they should be The most important principle seems to be "To support local industries hr-st then British, bv using all goods -hey can supply—Empire Trade. The League consists of a body of men and women, irrespective of creed and position, each member of which pledges him or herself to strive to carry ou t it s aims in their individual flaily hves. It is necessary that this hody should become as representative or the whole community a s possible and possess within it and adhere nn■wsrvingly to the essentials of every successful movement, which are:— *~ (1) Unity of purpose. (2) Ideals lofty and real enough to b e seen and yearned after by all —and (3) Tolerance of all that does no* conflict with these ideals The League lias Major General Sir Andrew R USS eII, K.C.8..
