—police Court. — Police (Const. Stvyer) v. A. Saunders, charged with driving a motor car across a level crossing while a train was approaching .within half-a-mile of such crossing.—Defendant pleaded guilty, and Constable Sivyer stated, that on 6th January, defendant, while driving from Scott's iGiap to Otautau, ran into the goods train, coming from Nightcaips, on the M-er-rivalc-Otautau road crossing. He thought defendant's (mind must have been concentrated on some other matter as the train c-ould be clearly seen hum, any part of the road, Damages to the extent- of £6O hadresulted to the car. The Magistrate thought defendant had been well punished!, but as a- warning to the public theso" prosecutions must be brought forward and he would be convicted and fined £l, costs, 7/-. —Civil Court.— G. ,H.
