HIGH COMMISSIONER’S MARKET ’ REPORT.
WELLINGTON, January 11. The High Commissioner’s market ’re. iort dated London", January 9, is as folows. (Note: Quotations, unless other, .vise specified, are average market priqes >n spot) : Mutton.—A fair demand continues. The narket is firm. Canterbury, s£d per lb; North Island, 5 7.16 d ; eaves, 6 3-16 d. Lamb.—The market is steady, and fair business is doing. Canterbury, (twdf'3, '> 5-8 d; other than Canterbury, 6 3-Bd. \ 7 ery few of this season’s lamb to hand, and selling slowly at 7d.
Beef.—There is a fair demand for better grades and a limited demand for poorer' grades. New Zealand hinds, 6 5-16 d ; fores, sjjd. Clulled.—A limited supply. Hinds, 7£d; fores, s£d. ButtJ-'r. —The. market is firm;, with an upward tendency. There is good demand :or Colonial butters. Danish is quiet at 150 sto 154 s per cwt; New Zealand, 138 s to 140»; Australian, 134 sto 138 s; Siber, ian. is. firm. A good demand at 126 sto 1325; Argentine 134 ato 1375. • iCheelse. —The market jjs steady*, and/ prices Have been well maintained. Can. adian, white and coloured, is firm, but» quiet, at-from 78s to 79s per cwt. New Zealand, white and coloured, is firm at from 76s to 77a. < Hhmp.—The market is rather more active for New Zealand fibre on account of the small supply on hand. On spot, New Zealand good-fair, £26 10s per ton. Wool—The market is firm with an improved demand. Oats. —The market is quiet, but firm.
