SOUTHLAND EDUCATION BOARD
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5, The monthly meeting ol the Southland Education Board, was held on ninthly, and was attended by Mr T. MucGrboou (chairman; and Messrs J. uiosay Smith, J. Fisiur, D. Gilchrist and U. Macalrster. Leave ol absence was granted to Messrs \\. N. Stirling .J. C. Thomson, M.F., and G'. .1. Anderson, M-P. The Inspector-General intimated that a grunt for the supply/of icertain live text boor-s to children attending S tandard 111 in public schools will be available next year on certain conditions. The grant would be for the year lyiO and would be at the rate of 3s per bead on the roll number of Standard 111 Deferred to the inspectors for report. The following appointment has been • made: Riverton, E. Lucas, tern, second assistant during absence on leave of Miss Ash. The following tenders have been accepted •—otiapiri, paint)! ng school building, J. IS. Aldred (£lO 15s) , Hamilton Burn, painting school buildings, J. E. Aldred (Til). The Committee recommended that the following applications be granted; lU\Vaim a tuku, halt cost of a globe, 1 total cost £l I*s« i O tan tan, renewal and repairs to fencing round school grounds, as applied for, on condition that the School Committee will coutribujle £-1 towards cost of repairs to picket fencing, the Architect to, supply specifications for the wor e ; GladQold —half cost drainage and fencing, as apt plied for—total cost £l4.
