Land Board

THURSDAY, 25th JANUARY

The monthly meeting was attended by Messrs John Hay (Chief Commissioner), A. Kinross, J. McIntyre, D. King and J. McLean. The Department notified the reappointment of Mr Jno. McLean as a member of the Board, as from 2 ist December last. The department having notified that the Minister has approved of the sale of an acre out of section 31, Merrivale settlement, for a church site, it was resolved that the land be surveyed when a surveyor is available. It was resolved that the deposit of £} be refunded to the Merrivale Public Hall Committee, the commit tee having decided not to take a lease of an acre on Merrivale for a hall site. The Southland Education Board having requested reservation of secs 1 to 6, 11, 13 and 17 to 21, blk. 3, Waimatuku, for school purposes, it was decided to recommend the Gov eminent to comply with the application. C. S. Longuet, on behalf of the Otago and Southland Investment Co., offered 10s per acre for excess area of 58 acres in sec. 81, Waiau. —Commissioner to communicate with the department. Messrs King and Kinross were appointed to value the improvements on Runs 413 and 463, Sunnvsidc.

The following applications for land were grantedF. Corkin, jr., sec. 137, block 13, Waiau ; Robert Thomson, see. 9, block 29, Wairaki.

In regard to 100 acres in block 2, Longwood, applied for by F. Turnbull, the Warden recommended the reservation of the main gully and creek, also Wilson and party’s race and suggested that the ranger value improvements.—Ranger to act as requested.
