POLICE COURT.

(Before G. Robertson and J. R. Mills, Eaqs., J.P's.) PROHIBITION ORDER.

At this court yesterday, Annie .Tones was charged on the information of Constable Walker with excessive drinking of liquor causing tho waste of her substance and injury to her health. The Constable intimated that Mrs Joups had no objection against an order being made. Order granted, to have force in Eiverton, Thornbury, and Fairfax. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION. Henry Phillips was charged by Constable Walker with bavin? taken trout without being the holder of a license to do so, contrary fo the provisions of "The Fisheries Conservation Act." Accused, for whom Mr Anderson appeared, pleaded guilty. Counsel then outlined the facts of the case which were that accused, who was a fisherman by occupation, had been out fishing beyound the prescribed boundary. It was a dark night, and the trout along with other fish were put in the boat. On Tuesday morning he saw they were trout, and thought he would send them to his brother. For this purpose he placed them in a bag, and was carrying them on his shoulder to the train, when the Constable stopped him, and asked him what he had in the bag. He instantly told bin trout. There was no attempt at concealment, and they were not being sold. In view of these facts he asked their Worships to imposo a nominal fine. Fined 5s and costs 7s, trout to be confiscated.
