WALLACE AND FIORD. HOSPITAL.
Tqe ordinary monthly meeting of the Trust was hold on Saturday afternoon, at which Messrs Playfair (Chairman), Baldey, Blaekstock, Joseph Clark, K. Fraser, Hamilton, Hoperoft, sour., Port and Woods were present. The annual balance-sheet duly certified by the Auditor-general was adopted.
Donations in kind for the month thankfully acknowledged :—Mrs W, Pankburst, useful linen ; Mrs Stevenson, oiled silk ; Mi's Smith, milk; Mr Sam Leisa, fish j Mr M. Fallow, 2 7 sacks bed cliatT.
The Surgeou-sporiutcndeut’s report as follows was read : I heg to submit for the information of the Committee the following report for la-'t month. Admissions—Males, 11; females, 1; total, 13. Discharges —Males, 3 ; females, 2 ; total, 4. Death—-.las. McDonald from Bright’s disease. Remaining—Males, It ; females, 1; total, 13. Tho admissions this mouth were mostly surgical, including a number of accidents. The ono case of death was an old man, aged 81 years, from kidney disease. Those remaining aio doing well. The waiting room ought to be furnished, and linoleum placed in the corridor. A good chance exists now for getting the grounds laid out, as a practical gurdner is in town, who would do it for a reasonaolo sura, and 1 think this matter ought to bo attended to. A lamp would ho required in front of tho bospt tal.
Mr Hamilton moved tho adoption of the report, and that the matter of laying oft’ the grounds bo loft in the hands of the Chairman and Messrs
Port and Fraser. The motion was seconded by Mr Hopcroft and carried. In reference to the garden paths, Messrs Hamilton, Hopcroft and Blackstock volunteered to give the use of their teams for gravelling same. Three tenders were received for erection of outbuildings, and that of G. Woods (£63 10s), being the lowest, was accepted. Accounts for the month amounting to £GO 15s were passed for payment. A letter was received from Miss Austin tendering her resignation as matron. The letter and other matters connected therewith was considered in committee. On resuming it was resolved that the resignation be accepted, and that application be invited for the office of matron. Mr Port moved the resolution of which ho had given notice of at the previous meeting, That the reservoir be cleaned out and that the water be filtered with charcoal. Seconded by Mr Hopcroft and carried. On the motion of Mr Hamilton, it was resolved that tenders be called for supplies for the Hospital for the ensuing year.
