EDUCATION BOARD.

(From the " Southland News.") An ordinary meeting of the Board was held yesterday. Present-Messrs T M Macdonald '(chairman), Lumsden, Mackintosh, Dennis-ton, and Dr Menzies. In discussing the matter the Chairman incidentally mentioned that there was ene, if not two schools in the Otago district Lawrence and Tokomairiro, rated as High Schools, where the average attendance of one did not come up to that of Riverton, and the other only slightly exceeded it.- Dr Menzies corroborated this.—Mr immsden moved communicating with the Minister of Education, and pointing out that as constituting this a High School does not involve any extra expense to the Dupartment, the Board did not see what objections there could be to the proposal, and that his attention be drawn to the fa<-t of the attendance as compared with the places mentioned. Agreed to.
