A LOVE SONG.

(Done into English from the Langue D'Oil.) By Nbantheb. As pants the hunted deer for water brooks, So thirsts and longs my soul in hope or fear ~• i .To be with thee, And in saddened spirit I am waiting to receive A touch from thee. As the sailor wrecked at sea Prays for land and wishes for the day, So do 1 long and yearn to see thy face And sit by thee ; And when thou conaest all my soul’s aglow With'sight of thee. Full well thou knowest that I live or die Only for thee. Then haste, my love, and stay with me awhile, And X U reward 'thee with my fondest smile. Come quick to me. For I am wild to welcome and to kiss thee. Come, O come to me. * I AM WEARY. l am weary, oh ! so weary. And the night-wind’s soft refrain Quells the sorrow and the tumult In my troubled heart and brain. I am weary of the striving For a place to lay my head ; I am weary and would rest me In that lowly, lowly bed Where tlie night-wind sigheth ovex'; Nay, I sin to long for this; What am I that I should shudder At a cold world’s bitter kiss 7 Night wind sighing soft around me, Give my troubled spirit rest. Give me strength for earthly burdens, For He knoweth what is best. I am weary, oh ! so weary. And the night-wind’s soft refrain Quells the sorrow and the tumult In my troubled heart and brain.
