-s ♦ r ' Wc omitted to mention in our last in connection with the native reserve at East Riverton, that an acre bad been set apart where the native cl lurch stands as a reserve for church and school purposes. A reserve, containing over an acre, has also been set apart on the beach frontage as a landing-place for the use of the whole of the native community in this part of (ho province. It is proposed lo vest this land in trustees for (he aforesaid purpose, and the following persons have been chosen for the duty, viz.: — Rawiri te Awa, of Oraka. James Wikson h HoANI PaORORO ( e a David Pratt of Aparima. Charles Goodwtllt ) We arc given to understand that now the land question lias been settled, the owners intend to prohibit persons from running stock on the reserve, and purpose taking proceedings against anyone found cutting or removing timber or firewood without permission. At the desire of the natives, we print the announcement of their appointment in Maori.
