BRIDGE PARTY

&NJO Y ABLE EVENT N G

AID OF COUNTRY QUEE A '

A progressive bridge party, organised by Mesdames J. A. McLean and V. Bradley in aid of the Country Queen (Miss Mary Wall), was held at Mrs. J. A .McLean’s residence, Wallace Road. Waipukurau, on Monday evening, and proved most successful, 17 tables being engaged in play. The tables were arranged in the drawing room, lounge and breakfast room, which were brightly decorated with choice summer blooms.

Mrs. McLean, wearing a smart gown of- raisin brown crinkled crepe, having a deep yoke of flesh pink georgette, and Mrs. Bradley, wearing a trained gown of black satin under a coatee of maroon chiffon velvet, received their many guests, who in a short space of time setled down to a not too serious game of bridge.

The winners were Mrs W. D. Fleming and Messrs. D. W. Neild and J. McGregor. Hidden number, Miss Andreas. The delicious hot savoury supper served was much appreciated.
