Dance To-morrow
A dance in aid of the Town Queen is to be held in St. Mary’s Hall tomorrow night. The Ritz Banco Band Li to provide the music. Admission will be 1/6. Courage of a Quail A strange instance of the courage of a quail was related to a meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society by Mr R. V. Mason, a Wairarapa member. When the hurricane last year devastated the district, he said, trees were blown down in the Wairarapa Park, and men on relief were put on to clear away the debris. They found a hen quail sitting on her nest. Though the big sitiumps nearby were repeatedly blasted in the clearing process, the bird remained sitting on her eggs and brought out a clutch of chicks. The increase of quail in the Wairarapa was also mentioned by Mr Mason, who sand that they were now so plentifu 1 in parts that ISvo men had been able to go out on more than one occasion :and bag 50 in a day. /
