OTANE NOTES
A POPULAR DANCE USUAL FORTNIGHTLY EVENT (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was again a very good attendance at the fortnightly dance, held on Saturday night, the occasion being a cinema night. There were a number of very good representations. As Mae West, Miss Nilsson, and as Harold Lloyd, Mrs. McDougal, won the ladies’ prizes. The men’s prizes were secured by Mr. P. Jepps, as Charlie Chaplin, and Mr. R. Avison, as Ronald Colman. A chocolate competition was won by Mrs. Turner, and the Monte Carlo waltz by Miss K. Ashby and Mr. N. Scheele. Miss Langridge judged the competitions. The committee in charge of the evening were Messrs. J. and D. Stevens, J. Stephens and Miss Wedd. Basketball Team Defeated. At Hastings on Saturday the local basketball team was defeated by the High School nine by 20 goals t® 9.
