At ihe request of his parents, who admitted that they could not control him, Manchester magisrates committed to a reformatory school an eightyear old boy who had tried to drown his sister, put iodine in a pot of tea, set fire to a bed, and had broken into houses, hurled an inkpot at his teacher, and had attempted to strike a woman with an axe. The Court was told that the boy, when three years of age, was blown across a road by the explosion of two gasometers, but various doctors who had since examined him had not found any traces of'feprious injury.
