CRASH OF A CAR

MAN KILLED & ANOTHER HURT TA U.S 100 FEET (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Failing to negotiate a sharp bend in the road six miles from Cheviot this afternoon, a car containing two persons crashed Over a bank into a gully 100 ft. below. The driver, Mr Geoffrey A. Maybury, married, aged 35, a motor agent, of Christchurch, was killed. .MrA. D. Cooper, a farmer of Spotswood suffered a fractured left leg, abrasions and shock. The accident occurred on a portion of the road which runs along the hank of the Leamington river. Mr Maybury was driving Mr Cooper to his home at Spotswood, and at a sharp bend the ear left the road and overturned several times, as it hurtled to the bed of the creek far: below. Both driver and passenger were thrown out.
