A DAY AT RUAWARO

The Bayly Trial Jurymen TO MAKE FULL INSPECTION OF LAKEY AND BAYLY FARMS (Per Press Association.) •AUCKLAND, This Day. A full day will be spent at Ruawaro to-day by the jury engaged in hearing the trial of William Alfred Bayly.

The party left Auckland shortly after 8.30 a.m. in four cars, in charge of two constables, who have guarded them throughout, also Supreme Court officials.

They were provided with a lunch hamper, and thigh waders to enable them .to make a thorough inspection of the Lakey and Bayly properties, also the adjacent swamps.

During his address for the defence Mr' E. H. Northcroft referred to a number of places to which he invited the jury’s special attention, emphasising the view of Bayly’s cowshed and Lakey’s wattle tree paddock, to be obtained from other settlers’ homes. It is therefore thought probable that the party will visit these other farms as well as spending a lot of time at Lakey’s in considering the Crown’s reconstruction of the crime. This is the first fine day- this week and the jury has been fortunate in the matter of weather, but the Ruawaro district will still be sodden after the recent heavy fain; therefore it is anticipated that the jury will have to do a great deal of walking as the clay roads may be impassable for cars. The jury should arrive at Ruawaro at about 11 o’clock, and will probably leave again at 4 p.m., when it is beginning to get dark, arriving back in Auckland at about 6 p.m., in time for dinner.
