SOCIAL EVENING
DANCING AND CARDS FUNCTION AT OTANE On Saturday evening, following the marriage of their eldest son, Roger, to Miss Kirk, Hatuma, Mr and Mrs J. Ashby entertained a number of relatives and friends at their residence, “The Bungalow,” Otane. Mr a nd Mrs Ashby, assisted by their daughter Poppy, received the guests, Mrs Ashby wearing a dress of caramel windswept crepe with beige trimmings and Miss P. Ashby a Burgundy silk marocain frock.
Bridge and other games were played by non-dancers and the younger folk spent a gay and joyous time dancing, playing musical games and community singing.
A dainty supper was served. Musical honours for the host and hostess, the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem ended a very happy and delightful gathering.
