Grimmett and Wall SCORE COMFORTABLY AGAINST GENTLEMEN OF ENGLAND. By Telegraph—Copyright —Press Assn. LONDON, June 18. The hottest day of the tour greeted the Australians when they continued their match with the Gentlemen. Before passing the Gentlemen’s score they lost Chipperfield, who was playing forward and was badly beaten, being bowled by Read. Barnett went out when attempting to hit Holmes —8 for 178. Then Grimmett and Ebeling figured in a solid stand, before Brown’s leg break beat Ebeling, who was caught at the wicket. Grimmett and Wall raised 200 in 175 minutes, the latter batting exceptionally well. Australia’s last three innings have heen progessively the lowest of the. tour. The innings occupied 190 minutes. Brown bowled well, improving his test prospects. The Gentlemen leopened at 12.30 Dawson was clean bowled by Wall in his second over. Scores: — GENTLEMEN. First Innings 177 Second Innings.
