LILYAN TASHMAN Li VICTIM OF CANCER LOS ANGELES, March 28. The death is announced of Miss Lilyan Tashman, the film actress. The cause of death was cancer. A lovely blonde, Lilyan Tashman had been a prominent figure in numerous films since she made her screen debut in 1924. She was married to Edmund Lowe, the film star. Born in October, 1899, in Brooklyn, New York, Lilyan Tashman was formerly an artist’s model and sprang into prominence when she sat for Kirchner. She made her first appearance on the stage in the chorus of “The Lilac Domino” in New York in 1914, and. two years later joined the Ziegfield Follies, of which she became an outstanding member. Lilyan Tashman was featured in a number of stage productions before she entered the films, and she played the role of Hazel Harbury in both* the stag and screen versions of “The Garden of Weeds.’ ’ The actress played numerous gold digger and comedy roles. Lilyan Tashman acted for several companies. She had a contract with. Paramount for a long time, but in recent years was a free lance. Among the numerous pictures in which Lilyan Tashman appeared were: “So This is Paris!” “The Trial of Mary Dugan,” “New York Nights,” “Gold Diggers of Broadway,” “Bulldog Drummond,” “Putting on the Ritz,” “One Heavenly Night,” “Murder by the Clock,’’ “Finn and Hattie,” “Up Pops the Devil,” and “Present Arms.”
