TRANSPORT REGULATIONS IN TERMS OF GAZETTE NOTICE Under the recently gazetted goodsservice regulations, operators desiring to take advantage of the provisions entitling them to ‘ ‘ automatic licenses ’ ’ for the first year must have their applications in the hands of the Commissioner of Transport not later than May 1, 1933. The necessary application forms are obtainable from any office of the Public Works Department, or from the Commissioner of Transport, Wellington. The goods-service regulations come
into operation as from Ist June next, and operators requiring to be licensed,, who have not applied for licenses by that date, will be liable to severe penalties should they continue operating a goods-service thereafter. In general, all truck owners operating over 5 miles or more of or secondary highway require to be licensed, unless their services are wholly within the boundaries of a borough or town district, or do not extend five miles beyond such boundaries. There are, however, special exempted areas around the main centres (i. 0. the cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin).
