ON THE GREEN

WIN FOR WAIPAWA IN INTER-CLUB GAME A most enjoyable inter-club game was played on the local green between Waijpukurjau land- Waipawa Bowling Clubs on Saturday, in which the visitors proved the better club by two points. This gives the Waipawa Club a margin of three points to the good in the last two inter-club games, and no doubt they are wondering how they came to lose the Dillon Shield. It may bo also stated that the local club are wondering how they came to win it. Anyhow, arrangements are being made for another match, to be played on the Waipawa green on Saturday April Ist, when Waipukurau will endeavour to avenge their previous losses. The result, of Saturday’s games, the aggregate scores being: Waipawa 79. Waipukurau 77, were as follow:— Perkin, Wallace, Davy. Paterson (s) 27 beat Rood, Saunders. Cowper, Clarkson (s) 17. WAIPUKURAU CLUB NOTES AND COMMENTS (By “Lead”i Competitions are progressing slowly but surely—the Moore Cup would no doubt progress more rapidly if the Competitions Committee would give a definite decision as to their requirements, although there appears to be no doubt in the minds of the committee who arranged the competition that each section produce a winner. This seems to be the besf solution, but it certainly requires someone to say so. Members have been pleased to learn that Mr White, who entered the hospital a few days ago to undergo an operation, is progressing favourably and hopes to return home one day this week. “Alan" has been greatly missed from the green this season, but if the good wishes of the club can do it, he will be down to see us —if not to play—before the closing day. Congratulations to J. E. Hall on winning the East Coast Centre’s Champion Singles this year! The congratulations though belated are nevertheless unquestionably sincere. Why “Eddy” has not won that before beats me as he is certainly one of the finest leads on the East Coast. Anyhow, his old club are proud of him. and hope, next year, to send someone down who will bring the coveted honour to Waipukurau. D'Anvers, the runner-up in this Championship is also an ex-Waipuk-uronyin and to him also we extend congratulations. Real he-men, all wool and a yard wide from the waybacks, these fellows from Waipukurau.
