COUNCIL’S MONTHLY MEETING GENERAL MATTERS DISCUSSED There was a poor attendance at last night’s meeting of the Waipawa Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr. G. H. Hunt, presiding. The annual grant of £l5 was made to the dental clinic. A grant of £3 3/- was voted to the Fire Brigade, towards the expenses of the team attending the demonstration at Carterton during Easter. A letter from S. W. Strang asking on behalf of clients, for the preparation of a farm lands list, under the provisions of the Urban Farm Land Rating Act, was referred to the borough solicitors. A grant of £l5 w r as made to the funds of the Citizens' Library Committee. The manager of the gas works reported an increase of 3600 cubic feet of gas manufactured last month as compared with the corresponding month of last year. The water works report showed an increase in the pumping of 2 00,000 gallons. In ccordance with notice, the Mayor moved a special order reducing the number of councillors from eight to six. This will be confirmed at the April meeting.
