Mr and Airs L. W. Simpson, senr., have returned from a holiday spent at Kairakau Beach. \ Mr and Airs J. Anderson, of Onga. Onga, are at present spending a week’s holiday at Hastings Air August, aenr., of Otanc, is a patient at Sister Anderson’s private hospital. Miss, Phyllis Spargo, of" Wanganui, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs AV. Spargo, Otanc. Aliss Jessie Cleary, of Otaki, is spending a holiday with Mr- and Mrs Howard Powell, of Otanc. Aliss Jean Scrimegour, Otanc, left on Thursday for Wairoa to visit her aunt, Mrs, T. Carson. The Rev. S. Keen, of Island Bay, is a visitor to Waipawa, and is staying with the Rev. H. Dyson. Aliss E. Hicks, of Otane. has been compelled to re-enter the public hospital for further treatment. Air Peter Hansen, of Otane, has recovered sufficiently to leave the hospital and has gone to Palmerston North, to stay with his parents.

Airs Barton, of AVanganui, is staying with her daughter, Airs J. D. Todd, Alt. Herbert. Aliss E. Tully, Takapaii road, has returned to AVnipukurau from a holiday spent in Rotorua. Aliss A. Butler left this morning for Pahiatua, where she will spend a lengthy holiday. The engagement is announced of Stella, third eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs IT. D .Morrison, Tikokino, to Hoctor. second eldest son of Air ami Mrs W. C. F. Spargo, Otane. Mrs S. AVarburton, of Christchurch, is the guest of Afr and Airs P. F. Wall, Hatuma. Airs AVarburton, with her husband, leaves for England early in April. Afr R. Middleton-Taylor, who during the vacation of the Methodist college for the training of students for theministry has been assisting the Rev. H. Dyson in the AVaipawa circuit, has left Waipukurau on his return to Auckland. Afr and Airs N. L. Nelson, who have been residing in AA’aipukurau the past few years, left for AVellington. yesterday, where they will take up« their future home. Afr Nelson had been prominently associated with the Eparaima Cricket Club and the District High School team, from which spheres he will be specially missed. The beautiful home of Mr and Airs P. F. AVal) "Hinerangi, ” Hatuma, was the scene of a surprise party during the week, given by several of their friends in honour of the officers at present in camp on the AVaipukurau racecourse. Afr and Airs Wall, who are widely known for their hospitality, received the guests, and a most delightful evening was spent in dancing and playing snooker. The decorations throughout wore most artistically carried out. in rich autumn tunings, bronze leaves, dahlias and coloured zinnias. A delicious savoury supper was served. The officers present included Col. F. Symon, Major Stevens, Captain R. S. Parkes, Capt. G. B. Parkinson, Lieut. J. P. Joyce, Airs Wall wore a handsome model frock of almond green lace; Airs S AVarburton (Christchurch) a beautiful frock of green slaminsol: Aliss Mona McLean (Wellington), a smart frock of parchment satin; Mrs AV. B. Fisher, a dainty frock of powder blue lace. Others present wore: Afr and Afrs Cedric Williamson, Afr and Afrs J. Blundell (Argyll), Afr and Afrs H. Parsons, Afr and Afrs AV. D. Fleming, Afr and Afrs V. Bradley. Afrs H. Peacock. Misses J. Speedy, L. Elliott, E. Hobson, R Monckton, Dr. Fisher, Messrs W. Kibblewhite, G. Hobson, F. Lumsden. Ken. McLean. P. tyno, and 8. Peacock.
