Bird and Animal Passengers
Fifteen “passengers” are on board the cargo steamer Canadian Victor, which arrived at Auckland from Melbourne on Saturday evening. They comprise two Tasmanian devils, three ant-eaters and ten king parrots, all of which are consigned to the Toronto Zoo. Originally there were 12 parrots in the shipment, but two died shortly after they were placed on board the steamer. Another Gold-toothed Sheep Gold being found in sheep's teeth caused no little surprise among readers at Mercury Bay (says tife Star’s correspondent). Recently Mr Walter Harsant, of Hahei, about seven miles from Whitianga, was killing a lamb for food purposes and discovered a coating of gold on its teeth. As Hahei is some distance from Te Aroha and Ballance, Mr Harsant is of opinion that this lamb/may have struck it rich on his property.
