H.B. RAM FAIR

THE MARKET QUIET TOP PRICE NINE GUINEAS The annual ram fair at Tomoana opened yesterday morning, and sellers met a quiet market. Mostly Romney flock rams are being sold yesterday. The sale began dully, and only 210 out of the 94.0 sheep in the first four rows of pens brought three guineas or more. Up till that time, as well as later in the sale, two to 2’ guineas was tho most popular price, and a large number of pens were sold or were passed at. the minimum, bid of one guinea. The top price of the sale was nine guineas and was obtained for five Romney shearlings bred by Mr IT. Stewart, of Fcilding, and sold on his account, by Messrs Headley, Son and Stewart, to Air A. Inglis, of Waipawa; and for five shearlings bred by I\Tr W. M. Stewart, also of Fcilding. and sold by tho 11.8. Farmers’ Co-op. Assn, to Air B GTay, of Waipawa. Out of 22 pens of Lincolns only three pens wore sold, the prices being 1$ and two guineas. Three pens of Corriedales could not find a bidder. The quality of the sheep was well up to average, and was very favourably commented upon by tho brokers. Nevertheless there appeared to be little eagerness to buy. and there was not tho spiritedness that many sellers must have expected would bo shown in accordance with the better prices ruling for wool and mutton this week. The offerings consisted of 3,670 flock Romneys (one and two-shear). 140 flock Lincolns and 15 Corrimlale. Tomorrow tho offerings will consist of 2,700 Southdowns, 20 Border Leicester. 46 Ryolands and 34 English Leicester. At 2 p.m. the sale of studs will Login, the entries consisting of 26 Romneys, 43 Southdowns, and 20 Southdown owes. Tho following sales at throe guineas and over wore made. FLOCK ROMNEYS Bred by .T.
