WOOL SALES
STRONG COMPETITION PRICES UP 5 PER CENT. LONDON, January 25. At the wool sales 9326 bales were offered, including 32G1 New Zealand. Approximately 7640 were sold. There was strong general competition. FineMbrinos and crossbreds are now 5 per cent, above the opening rates. New Zealand sales: Scoured Alcrino, H.M. Oxford, top 17d, average 16 l-4d; greasy crossbred Hunthill, top 9Ad, average 7 3-Bd.
PRICES IN SYDNEY SYDNEY, Last Night. AVool prices at the current week’s market were as follow:— Superior Merino fleece best to 21|d; greasy Alcrino fleece, best 15d to 17d: good 13 l-4d; average Hid. Ditto, light seedy or burry skirts, good Hid to 12id; average lOd to lid; inferior 6kl to 91d. Lambs, best to 15d; fine comebacks to 13-2-d. Sydney brokers report th o average of the week’s sales to be £ll 14s 5d a. bale, or 9d a pound.
