NEGLIGENCE NOT REVEALED CONFLICT OF EVIDENCE While walking across the Cuba-Wake- | field Street intersection, Wellington, on ! December 12 last, Mr Arthur John , Ibbotsou, a builder, aged 62. was I caught in a position between a niotorI ear and a motor-cycle—both of which ; were moving—and was knocked down by one or the other or both. Tie was . taken to Wellington Hospital, and' j died a fortnight late- without recovering consciousness. The coroner. Mr 11. A. G'illmrtson. | inquiring yesterday info the accident, ] was faced with a conflict of evidence I as to which of the vehicles had first I struck Air Ibbotsou. Tie returned a finding that death had resulted from injuries received in an accident which had occurred through no fault, of Air Ibhofson. j The evidence was exceedingly coni flirting, the coroner said, and lie was * not. prepared to differentiate between , the parties as to whose negligence lad boon responsible for the injuries nr. 1 death. Evon the versions given bv two oyowitnoasrs were at variance. and there was no positive evidence that, either of the drivers had been negligent.
