( Mrs D. P. Dinnan is spending a holiday at Wairoa. - Miss L. Murphy, who has been on a holiday visit to Christchurch, returned, to Waipawa yesterday. Mrs A. Brittin, Senr., of, Takapau, is visiting her son, Mr G. Brittin, of St. Ives, Pukahu. Miss P. Broad, who has hen staying with Mrs S. A. Robinson, Hatuma, has returned to Fcilding. Mrs T. Given has returned to Waipukurau after spending a holiday in tho South Island. Mr and Mrs P. Guthrie have returned to Waipawa from their holiday tour of tho East Coast. Mr and Mrs J. A. Dixon and family, have just returned from . a holiday spent at tho Foxton Heads. Mrs I. W. N. Mackie and family, who have been camping at the Porangahau beach, have returned to Waipukurau Air Brian Boys left to-day for Christchurch, where his marriage is to take place. Miss K. Ormond of Wallingford, who has left for Christchurch, will be one of the bridesmaids, at the wedding of Miss Williams to Air Brian Boyes. Airs W. Rust, of Waipawa, was taken seriously ill on Tuesday morning and had to enter the Waipukurau hospital, where she is making good progress. Mrs -J. A. Buchanan is visiting Plimmorton, and is staying with, her sister, Airs R. St. ,T. Pedler, of Dannevirke, who has taken a cottage there for the holidays. Airs H. Hobson, of Hatuxna, has received the following radio telegram from her daughter, Aliss Aland Hobson, who is a pasenger ons the Port Hunter, en route to the Argentine: A good trip; all well. After 37 years as secretary of the Wanganui Education Board, Air W. TI. Swanger has retired. At yesterday’s board meeting, he was farewclled by members, and presented with a. morris chair. Airs A. Parkin, who was take* seriously ill during a motoring tour of the West Coast and had to enter the New Plymouth hospital, has made a good recovery and was able to return to Waipawa on Sunday. Air David Pryde, who won the NewZealand golf championship 35 years ago, died suddenly in Wellington on Sunday, at the age of 72. The late Air Pryde was born in Scotland and came to New Zealand as a young man, starting in business as a jeweller in Wellington. In 1903 he wont to Feilding, where he established a business. The death took place in New Plymouth on Sunday of the Rev. H. JFletcher, of Opunakc, at the age of 64 years. The late Air Fletcher was a native of Kent, England, and came to New Zealand with his parents in 1875, when he was six years of age. His parents settled at Bulls and Turakina. He soon became interested in the native race of New Zealand and ho commenced Afaori mission work in the Presbyterian Church in the Rangitikci district under the direction of the Rev. Air Duncan of Foxton, while a student at. Turakira under the Rev. Air Ross. Tn 1895 ho went to Taupo and was engaged in Alaori mission work in that district for 28 years.
