COOK-NEUSEL BOUT

WIN FOR THE GERMAN CROWD BOOS THE DECISION By Telegraph—Copyright—Press Aa. LONDON, Last Night. In a twelve rounds light at the Albert HaH, the German, Walter Neusel, outpointed Cook. Cook was accompanied by his wife, who kissed him twice as he entered the ring. Neusel opened, punching powerfully, and rattled Cook, with three uppercuts. The fleet-footed Australian punished the German with his favourite h/*t hook to the jaw. Neusel exploited his longer reach, scoring several lefts, but failed to evade Cook, and stopped repeated heavy rights to the jaw. Cook’s greater experience often nonplussed the German. The fight, continued to bo even. Cook in the seventh forced the German to a corner and sent a terrific, right to the jaw. Neusel’s counters were not affecting the stocky Australian, who was even more vigorous in the fighting that followed. Cook was magnificent, leaving nothing to chance and exhibiting sound defence. Cook in the ninth round rushed the German to the ropes, but was steadied by a tremendous left hook, the Gorman scoring with both hands, while in the tenth vicious rights and lefts sent the Australian’s head back. Ho was apparently beaten, but. returned fighting fury-like. Tn the last round both stood exchanging punches. Cook in his eagerness to land a terrific right in the twelfth, swung himself to the floor. Tim decision was greeted by several minutes’ booing. AVhen it was announced that Cook is 25 to-day the Australian had a wonderful ovation.
