ON STRIKE

FARMERS OF lOWA GRAIN FOR “MOVE” TICKETS VANCOUVER (8.C.), Aug. 19. When farmers in some of the smaller towns of lowa took their families to the talkies they needed a lorry to carry the price of admission. The position arose because of a farmers’ strike, which has now entered on its. second week. Milk and cream are drenching the ground where it is being dumped by strikers to prevent delivery through dealers who are allegedly refusing to pay the costs of production. In some of the smaller towns where cash has become very scarce, theatres are accepting grain instead of .money. One cinema charged a bushel of oats as admission for a child, and two bushels of corn for grown-ups.
