SPANISH REVOLT

TRIAL OF LEADERS EXCITEMENT IN MADRID Vy Telegraph—Copyright —Press As. MADRID, Aug. 24. The trial of General San Jurgo, for whom the Public Prosecutor demands the death penalty, and his son and two other officers, for whom life imprisonment is sought, commenced to-day. The capital is agog over the trial, especially in view of General San Jurgo’s strong personality and brilliant record, including fighting in Morocco, which earned him the High Commissionership under de Rivera. Members of the Cortes have received thousands of telegrams urging the death penalty, which President Zamora is understood to oppose on principle.
