DIED IN HOT POOL
WEALTHY BOTORUA MAN KEEN FOLLOWER OF SPORT ROTORUA, Monday. A sum of £39 in notes was found by the police in two sugar bags discovered with the clothing of Mr W. R. Corcorane, who was found dead in the Soda Pool in the Kairau Reserve on Saturday. It is believed that his estate will realise between £lO,OOO and £12;000. Mr Corcorane, who was over*Bo years of age, had been a resident of Rotorua for about 20 years. He owned 12 houses in the town, yet was content to live in one small room at the rear of one of his dwellings let to a tenant. He was generally seen about town carrying his possessions around with him in a couple of sugar bags slung over his shoulder by a stick. He had these
treasured bags with him on the day of his ;death, and deft them with his clothes on the bank when he entered the pool. His affairs are in the hands of the Public Trustee. A keen follower of sport, Mr Corcorane used to say he had seen 30 Melbourne Cup races. An inquest was not considered necessary, as deceased had been under medical treatment for heart trouble.
