A TOTAL WRECK

KAPONGA ABANDONED PRELIMINARY INQUIRY TO-DAY (Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The following message has been received from Greymouth by the secretary of the P. and T. Department.

“At 4 a.rn. to-day the Kaponga was abandoned as a total wreck on the rocks at the north Breakwater. The crew was removed safely to shore.”

The stranded steamer Kaponga has become a total wreck on the Grey Bar where her position had remained unaltered with the bow near the north breakwater until Saturday afternoon.
