PRESENTED AT COURT

NUMBER NEW ZEALANDERS ALL GOWNS BRITISH MADE LONDON, Last Night. Presentations at Court on Thursday included the New Zealanders Mcsdames Roderick, Anderson, Denis Bal-combc-Brown, Lennox Gordon, Grenfell Morgan, Francis Clark, lan MacKillop, Misses Isobel Wilford, Inda Myers, Annie Clarkson, Biddy Philcox, Margaret Porritt, Joyce Tolhurst.

It was the first time at the Court that all the gowns were of British made material and design. This was due to the Queen’s special request. She herself set the example, wearing a lovely embroidered gown of silver and gold with a train of Irish lace. There was the usual assembly of motor cars. Four hundred debutantes were in the Mall where a fine evening enabled Londoners to enjoy the parade of English beauty and fashion. White, pink and pale lettuce green were the dominant colours. Some of the loveliest frocks were made of Nottingham lace and were singularly beautiful against the background of red roses, laburnum and deep coloured hydrangeas which were banked around the Stato apartments.

The King wore the scarlet and gold uniform of Colonel-in-Chicf of the Scot’s Guards with a crepe armband.
