DIRECT ACTION
CHRISTCHURCH RELIEFBALLOT FAVOURS A STRIKE CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. It was stated officially at a meeting at Victoria Square this evening that the ballot taken among rc-lief workers at Christchurch had disclosed a majority in favour of direct action against the' new rates of relief wages and that the men on relief works would strike to-morrow. No objection would be raised to any man who wished finishing his week's work. Of 2 000 votes cast 1700 had favoured the strike.
