<s> The Governor-General and Lady Bledisloc left Wellington last evening by the Limited express for a visit to the Taupo and Tokaanu district, where his Excellency proposes to spend a few days trout fishing before the close of the season Their Excellencies expect to arrive at Auckland on May 21 and will go into residence there at Government House for several weeks. Mr C. Nairn, of Pourerere, leaves shortly on a visit to England. Mrs L. Hosking, of Putaruru, has been visiting with friends at Porangahau. Miss L. Legge, infant mistress at the Raetihi School, is spending the holidays with relatives at Porangahau. Miss A. Hobson, of Hamilton, is sounding the term holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Hobson. Batumi. General Sir Andrew Russell has accepted an invitation to bo present at the returned soldiers' re-union to be held to-night in Waipawa. Miss E. Treacy, infant, mistress at the Porangahau School, is spending the, term holidays with her parents at Pukckohe. A child aged throe years, Douglas Baldwin, of Pukehou, received minor head injuries at. Pukehou on Tuesday as the result of being knocked down by a motor ear which was passing along the main highway. The little sufferer received treatment in the M aipukurau Public Hospital, where he is progressing favourably toward recovery. Mr James Llewellyn Churchouse, a resident of Carterton for many years, died at the age of 62 years. The late Mr Churchouse was a son of SergeantMajor W. R. Churchouse, of the Armed Constabulary, and was horn in Auckland in January, 1870. His early youth was mostly spent in Lower Hutt, . and he was educated at the Hutt Val- ; ley School. He was president of the : Amalgamated Society of Railway Ser- ; vants, and had been for lengthy periods > a borough councillors in Carterton and Petone.
