Messrs A. M. Samuel and David Jones, Reform members for Thames and mid-Canterbury respectively, who have been assisting Mr W. Tucker’s candidature in the Waipawa electorate, returned to Wellington this morning.
Mr J. J. Langridge, of Ota no, is at present an inmate of the Waipukurau Public Hospital. -
Mr and Mrs R. V. McDowell, of Auckland, arc the guests of Mr and Mrs C. F. Hartland, Wallace road, Wai-
pukurau.
Mr McAlpine, Dominion Organiser, Farmers’ Union, and Mr R. E. Talbot, provincial president, were visitors to Waipukurau yesterday.
Mr J. H. Kibblewhite, People’s Warden at „St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Waipukurau, left for Napier to-day, where he will attend a meeting of Synod which opens to-morrow.
The many friends of Mr Thos. A. Nutt, of Wanstead, will be sorry to learn that it was necessary for him to enter the Waipukurau Public Hospital yesterday afternoon for treatment for appendicitis.
Mr H. B. Smart, assistant engineer to the Patangata County Council, has received advice that he has passed successfully the examination for roads, bridges construction and maintenance costs (two papers) held under the auspices of the Main Highways Board. Mr P. J. Marfell, structural engineer, Waipukurau, also passed in one section.
At the annual general meeting of the Waipukurau Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday, a vote of condolence was passed to the widow and relatives of the late Sir George Hunter who had been president of the Society since its inception. Similar votes were also accorded the widow and family of Mr John Winlove (an enthusiastic member) Mr W. J. Clark and family, and Mr J. W. Harding.
